Frugal Film Franny – You take a handful of pictures each month of your nieces and nephews with your film camera. You are considering upgrading, but you really want to be frugal. And besides, purchasing new electronics devices is a bit intimidating! Gear: Samsung makes a nice little guy for under $100. And it comes in pretty colors! Check it out HERE. If you are willing to use ebay, check out the Canon digital elphs or Sony Cybershots. Discussion: Consider this. Film costs $2 a roll and $7 to develop at Walgreens. If you take 10 rolls a year (my grandmother takes close to 50 rolls) that is $90 in film costs. If you shoot the same 240 pictures a year on a digital camera and you want to print all of them, you will pay $.10/picture at Walgreens (that's a special right now…but other places are as cheap) so that will cost you $24. So, after spending $99 on the camera, you save $66 in film costs your first year. Keep the camera a second year and the upgrade is saving you money! . Worried about knowing what you are doing? Just take your memory card into Walgreens and they will walk you through the process. You just put the card in the machine, select the picture you want to print, and pay for it! As long as you're as shooting in decent light, your images will look good in 8x10. Notes: Just go witht he cheapest you can find. If you end up on ebay, remember to check out the sellers feedback. Make sure there is lots of good feedback from people who have bought from this seller. |
